Reflexology.

Reflexology, a method of treatment by foot massage has evidence of having been practiced by the ancient Chinese and Egyptians. Its modern practice was developed in the 19,20s by an American ear, nose and throat surgeon, Dr William H Fitzgerald, who called it zone therapy. He outlined a number of zones on the body, which, when stimulated, could produce effects/healing upon other distant parts of the body. These 10 zones mainly thought to be reflected on the hands and feet correspond to organs.

Nature has conveniently put push-button controls on the surface of the body to treat parts of the inner body that are far from the point of contact!
